Akti Miaouli is Nafplio’s seafront promenade along the harbour, with cafes and views of Bourtzi.

Akti Miaouli is the seafront promenade along Nafplio’s harbour, lined with cafés, restaurants and benches, and offers views of the Bourtzi fortress and the Argolic Gulf. It is named after Andreas Miaoulis, an admiral of the War of Independence, and it is the best place to feel the maritime atmosphere of the town. The promenade is flat and wide, and suitable for walking, cycling and strolling with children or strollers. Fishing boats and yachts tie up along the quay, and from the end of the promenade you can see the walls of Akronafplia and the cliffs. Cafés and tavernas have outdoor seating, and the promenade is lively in the evening. It is also the departure point for boats to the Bourtzi. Go at sunset to see the changing light, and stay for dinner. The promenade is free and open at all times, though some tavernas are expensive. It is a short walk from Syntagma Square.
