The museum shows sculpture, mosaics and pottery from the Corinthian area.
The museum at Ancient Corinth displays sculpture, mosaics, pottery and everyday objects from the city, many found in the nearby agora. Rooms are arranged by period and show how Corinth developed from a prehistoric settlement to a rich trading city and later a Roman provincial capital. The Corinthian pottery, which was exported across the Mediterranean, is a highlight, along with Roman sculpture and mosaics that were once part of villas and public buildings. The courtyard displays larger pieces. The museum is small enough to see in about an hour, and it is the ideal complement to the open-air site: by seeing the objects, you will understand the stones better. It is also a welcome relief from the sun in summer. The ticket for the archaeological site normally includes the museum, but check the official website for current prices, opening hours and any changes in arrangements.
