Korfos combines a quiet fishing-village atmosphere with the historic church of Panagia Steiri just north of the settlement.
Korfos is a quiet fishing village on the Saronic coast of Corinthia, with a pebble beach, a small harbour and pine-covered hills. Just north of the settlement stands the church of Panagia Steiri, linked to an older monastic complex and dated by local sources to around the eleventh century. Combine a seafront walk with a visit to the church. The village has a handful of tavernas serving fresh fish, and the bay is sheltered, so the water is usually calm and clear. It is a good place for a quiet swim and a leisurely lunch, away from the larger resorts. The church is a small, old building with a simple interior, and it is a place of worship, so dress modestly. Opening times can be limited, so check locally. The village is a pleasant stop on a drive through the Corinthian countryside, and is not far from Ancient Epidaurus and Methana. In summer, it is busy at weekends.
Its seaside setting, pine forests and the nearby historic church of Panagia Steiri.
The village is free to visit; check access conditions for the church.
