Porto Heli is a resort town on a wide bay in Ermionida, popular for sailing and swimming.
Porto Heli is a resort town on a wide, sheltered bay at the south-eastern tip of the Argolid, popular with sailors and with Athenian families. The seafront has cafés, restaurants and a marina, while beaches lie around the bay, and boats connect the town with nearby islands such as Spetses. The bay is almost enclosed, which keeps the water calm and makes it a good place for swimming, sailing and water sports. The town is busiest in July and August, when many Athenians come for holidays, and it is quieter in spring and autumn, when the weather is still mild. Porto Heli is also close to Ermioni and to the Franchthi Cave, so it is a useful base for exploring the southern Argolid. Parking can be difficult in the centre in summer, so leave the car outside and walk. An evening stroll along the waterfront is the best way to experience the town.
